  • The Newark Downtown District is the vibrant setting for a free community concert celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Newark Downtown District (NDD) on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Presented in partnership with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), this special event features live music by The Commodores and Eric Benét, soul and R&B hits with DJ Felix Hernandez, and appearances by radio personalities Shaila Scott (WBLS 107.5 FM) and DJ Wallah (HOT 97) as co-hosts.

  • The GroundUp Voter Pop Up/Live podcast is an activation created to encourage citizens, particularly new voters, to register to vote and get involved with grassroots movements. We'll be hosting a mini fireside chat/podcast about how Civic Technology can empower disenfranchised communities. It will be a fun day of voter education and registration, giveaways, political guests and a live stream to all social platforms. Voter registration includes signing up patrons to join GroundUp to assist and support local elections.

  • Hans has a proven track record in product development, supply chain management, sales operations and information technology executive management. His 38 years of experience include fifteen at Hewlett-Packard and numerous successful early-stage high technology companies. Most recently he was Chief Operating Office for Oculus, a Facebook company and Fitbit where he was responsible for product design, supply chain operations and customer support. As employee 17 at Fitbit, Hans grew the business from a few Million in sales to a $1.8 Billion public company (NYSE: FIT). While at Fitbit, he launched and scaled eleven market leading products. His previous positions include COO of Skyline Solar, VP of Operations and Engineering at Element Labs (acquired by Barco), VP of Operations at OQO, Dash Navigation (acquired by RIM), ConvergeNet (acquired by Dell) and JetFax (NASDAQ: JTFX). He holds a MS in Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University and BS in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.   • Hudson Kitchen continues its education series Table Talk Live with a networking event, themed “From Amazon to Etsy: How to Successfully Sell Your Food Product Online.” During the event, which is co-hosted by =SPACE, attendees will hear from our panel of experts who will discuss how to develop a strategy for sales and optimization of their products on popular online platforms.   • Fintech (financial technology) & the current low barrier of entry presents a business opportunity for a community that has been historically underserved and underrepresented in financial services. Although the Fintech sector is massive and has continued to grow (over 12 billion in 2017) and the African American community has huge spending power (1.4 trillion by 2020), less than 1 percent of the CEOs of venture-backed tech startups are Black or Latin. More so less than 23% of both populations are considered financially healthy compared to 50% of their White counterparts. We will discuss the possible impact of the Fintech revolution and its accessibility/low barrier of entry for communities of color and possible solutions to the lack thereof. Get Tickets
